C.0. state however that particulars available to them are inadequate for compilation of pensions of pensionable Chinese officers and enquire whether in your opinion it would be satisfactory for Relief Organisation to make ad hoc allowances, in the case of officers with 10 or more years' service, at the rate of one-six-hundredth of salary for each month of Service,subject to a maximum of two-thirds of last salary in Hong Kong.

3. As explained in paragraph 4 of my telegram under reference, if this amount is insufficient for livelihood, officers are eligible for relief payments to supplement pensions. Non-pensionable officers would rank with non- officials for relief assistance.
